DAY 1: Travel day
DAY 2: Bordeaux
Land in Bordeaux, France! After a quick time of rest or exploring on your own, meet up with the group to tour the famous, high-tech wine museum The Cité du Vin (the City of Wine), a place of exhibitions, shows, movie projections and academic seminars on the theme of WINE. You may want to sign up for one of the museum’s shows or workshops by visiting https://www.laciteduvin.com/fr for more information.
Explore more of the city during the evening time and meet up for the Welcome Dinner together that night.
DAY 3: Bordeaux
Enjoy a full day at the wineries in the area, including St. Emilion and Fronsac, Sauternais, Lalande de Pomerol or Bordeaux Superieur with a guide. You’ll visit wine cellars, sample wines and learn about the traditional production processes. Enjoy lunch at an estate. By the end of your eventful tour you will be ready for a good night’s sleep!
DAY 4: Paris
Check out of your Bordeaux hotel and head via train to Paris, the City of Lights and Love. Arrive in the afternoon with time to explore this magnificent city with a FREE walking tour of the major landmarks of Paris. Try some French wine with your dinner tonight in Paris!
DAY 5: Paris
Head out early on your next full day tour. This time we are discovering the pleasures of the Champagne region with a visit to three wineries. Learn how the popular bubbly drink is made and enjoy a gourmet lunch at a family-run winery. Moet & Chandon, Mumm or Veuve Clicquot as well as smaller Champagne estates may be viewed on this tour. You’ll return to the City just in time for a late dinner to unwind before resting up for your next adventure.
DAY 6: Tuscany, Italy
Head out to Florence, Italy for the last leg of your wine trip. Take part of the day to get your bearings. Experience the magic of a Tuscan sunset in Florence with a traditional Italian aperitivo on this 2-hour evening tour. Soak up the atmosphere of the Renaissance capital after dark as you follow your guide on a walking tour around the historic center and the districts of Oltrarno and San Frediano. Admire illuminated landmarks like the Ponte Vecchio, Santo Spirito church and the Duomo as you explore the city and stop along the way to sip Chianti wine and nibble on delicious Tuscan ‘crostini’.
DAY 7: Tuscany, Italy
The group will leave out early for another full day of touring medieval gems, fine wines and UNESCO-listed monuments of Tuscany. Marvel over the medieval castle of Monteriggioni; explore the architectural wonders of historic Siena; admire the striking skyline of hilltop San Gimignano or visit historical hill towns Pienza, Montalcino and Montepulciano; admire the gorgeous, vineyard-covered scenery of Orcia Valley (Val d’Orcia); and enjoy cheese and wine tastings as you stop at local wineries and other venues. It’s a great day out in the Italian countryside.
Day 8: Travel back home
Head back to your home with some great memories of this fabulous trip and new friends to keep in touch with. And maybe a few bottles of wine!
